What are ARB's standards that breeders are held to?
All our members have agreed to abide by the ARB Code of Ethics, we have set the bar high. In addition ARB verifies contact information and veterinarian information, we also provide breeder verification reports that allow us to measure and see patterns and reputations in the breeders.
Can you refer me to a breeder to deal with?
ARB eschews recommending any breeder, product, or service in order to sustain our reliability. Our members have to meet and maintain standards that we set forth to call themselves an ARB member, and rely on ARB to provide an impartial environment for them to learn of and resolve disputes. ARB publishes a list of current verified members in the Member Directory.
What is ARB's role in breeder-client interaction?
ARB is a neutral third party.
What does your breeder verification report tell me?
Reports include essential kennel information, dispute and resolution history, and any other references or additional health screening ARB was able to verify. ARB reports do not include personal information or unverified references.
My complaint is unresolved, what next?
Most breeders are very grateful for the chance to resolve any issues, members also agree to respond to complaints filed with ARB within 2 weeks. In the rare instance a complaint is left unresolved after 30 days, it becomes a part of their breeder verification report that is available for the public. Should any breeder acquire 2 unresolved complaints within a year ARB membership is withdrawn. The client is free to pursue other alternatives such as legal action.
Can I report a positive experience with a breeder?
Yes. ARB will allow verifiable breeder references. This means providing a copy of a sale agreement, or other proof of transaction as well as your name, address, phone number and quote of reference. Your personal information will be kept private. ARB reserves the right to refuse any reference we may deem apocryphal in nature.
